Anchal chairperson appeals for relief fund

ITANAGAR, Aug 19: 12-Tali Anchal Samiti, Chairperson Rodak Tadik claimed that standing crops of Jhum and Paddy field of Tamuk village, Kurung Kumey District have been damaged by pest, heavy rainfall and land slide last month.

The chairperson appealed to the state government and the concerned department to provide relief fund to the affected villagers.

 

Medical team sought in Pip-Sorang circle

ITANAGAR, Aug 19: All Pip-Sorang Circle Youth Welfare Association (APCYWA) today appealed to the concern department to dispatch medicine and medical staff to contain outbreak of small pox and chicken pox in Pip Sorang circle. It claimed that many people have already become victims of the disease.

The Association also requested the Govt staff to stay in circle head quarter at Pip-Sorang for the convenience of the people.  Despite availability of infrastructure like office building and staff quarters, no Govt employee has shifted at circle headquarter, the union resented. It further appealed to the   administration and the local leaders to look into the problems.

 

Thakur issue resurfaces

ITANAGAR, Aug 19: The Pradeep Thakur issue re-surfaced with Lower Subansiri ZPM chairperson demanding a logical conclusion of the issue afresh.

The big silence being maintained by the Government on the issue and non-submission of report by the committee formed to enquire the issue only indicates the involvement of the chief minister and his close allies  in the whole episode, claimed ZP Chairperson Likha Tongum.

He expressed doubt over the sincerity of the inquiry committee headed by Minister Atum Welly. I wonder whether the committee investigated the matter. Because it has not yet made its report public, he added. He hoped that the committee would soon submit its finding to the authority and make it public.

It is pertinent to mention here that All Nyishi Youth Association (ANSU) had submitted a memorandum to the Governor as well as the State Government demanding immediate inquiry into the matter. The student union also led a phase wise democratic movement demanding action against the accused involved in the case.

 

Revoke ban order on land allotment: Federation

ITANAGAR, Aug 19: All Arunachal Pradesh Motor Transport Workers’ Union appealed to Deputy Commissioner, Capital Complex and Director Land Management, Government of Arunachal Pradesh to initiate immediate step to revoke the government decision on land allotment in capital complex.

The union claimed the land allotment process was banned since last two years. Due to this banned and lack of land allotment certificate, the people of capital complex are facing many problems.

 

Morn Peak expedition

ITANAGAR, Aug 19:  Young Mission Adventure Club (YMAC) capital based N.G.O undertook Morn peak expedition recently.

The 4-member expedition team including YMAC Secretary Yomjum Yomgam along with the local expert left for peak at 6.00 am from Deed village, under Pastana circle of Lower Subansiri District and reached Morn peak after 5 hrs marched despite heavy rainfall.

This peak is the 2nd highest peak in Lower Subansiri District which is approximately above 7,000 ft, the next to the Talley Valley which is 2432MTS or 8025.6 ft and surrounded by many villages Anch, Siya, Neelam, Deed, Talo, Pania and Hapoli. This low altitude peak is surrounded by very dense forests and covered by snow fall during winter season.  

The promotion of this peak for adventure tourism, like camping, trekking and wildlife tourism would generate employment and income opportunities to the unemployed youths of the Lower Subansiri District.

Earlier, the YMA Club had conducted expedition at Hakhe Tarin-Nikho Chotin waterfall and Talley Valley in order to promote adventure sport and tourism in the Lower Subansiri District and the state in general.

 

Warm farewell to Namchoom

KHONSA, Aug 19: Mitali Namchoom, CO, Khonsa, who cracked UPSC this year and got absorbed in the most coveted IAS was given a warm farewell by the district administration and HoDs at Khonsa yesterday.

She is all set to go for training in Mussorie, Uttarakhand. Tirap deputy commissioner  W. Lowang and all HoDs spoke glowingly about Namchoom’s tenacity and diligence in cracking the UPSC staying in a place like Khonsa affected by insurgency problem.

It may be recalled that Mitali also topped the combined APPSCCE examination in 2009 and served as Circle Officer at Khonsa with distinction.

ITANAGAR, Aug 19: All Arunachal Youngstar United Federation (AAYUF) in an undated memorandum address to the Governor, said that the state chief secretary has been in the present post for last six years.  There is every possibility of misuse of power by the present incumbent due to over stay in same post, the Union said and demanded his immediate transfer.

 

In-servicetraining

ITANAGAR, Aug 19: The in-service teachers training was conducted at block resource centre Sangram recently.

At least 50 teachers attended the training programme.

Amongst other, Circle Officer, Sangram T Riba, Vice Principal, Higher Secondary School Sangram Tai Tach and ADEO Tai Azad attended the programme. They advised the trainees to devote in their duties.

Meanwhile, another one day training programme of school management committee was also conducted which was attended by 30 members of SMC chairperson.

During the training RTE Act-2009 and role and responsibility of SMC members was discussed.

 

Workers’ Board approves annual budget

ITANAGAR, Aug 19: Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) in its meeting held here on August 18 last unanimously approved the budget for the year 2011-12.

While reviewing the achievement during 2010-11, the member present in the meeting expressed concern over the low collection of cess for the board. The Board urged the Govt for strict action against the defaulters. The meeting presided over the Board chairman Jalley Sonam was attended by the members and officials.

 

Protest rally postponed

ITANAGAR, Aug 19: The KVK Road Coordination Committee, Yachuli decided to postpone its proposed 1st phase of protest rally following the assurance of MLA cum Parliamentary secretary Likha Saaya to release the contractors’ bill for construction of KVK road Yachuli within August 20.

The Committee said that Saaya,  in his Independence Day address at ADC HQ Yachuli had  intervened in the issue of non-payment of contractors bills against the work completed, directed the executive engineer, Yazali PWD division  to make the payment within August 20. However, the committee said that it would go with its proposed agitation if the department concerned fails to release the bill within  the August 20.

Doimukh-Toru road restored for light vehicle

ITANAGAR: The 33km stretch of Doimukh-Toru road has been made through for light vehicles only from August 20. The road remained cut off for last many days following the landslide and road blockade caused by heavy down pour on August 5 last, informed Er D Dulom, EE, Sagalee division in a release today.

As many as eight excavator loaders and all available man power were pressed into round the clock service to clear the road blockade as early as possible.

Dulom further informed that at least three months’ effort will be required for complete removal of mudslides/debris from the road besides  reconstruction of damages structure for making the road fit  for heavy vehicles.

Govt releases Rs. 17 cr non- plan fund for road renovation

ITANAGAR, Aug 19:  While the people of the Capital Complex have been crying foul over the massive damages of roads caused by incessant rainfall, the government today released Rs 17 crore non-plan grant for repair.

After over a month-long rainfall and inclement weather, the sun shined brightly today facilitating speeding up of the restoration work on war footing as Finance and Planning Minister Kalikho Pul sanctioned the funds.

Pul said as announced by Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin during his maiden press conference on August 4 last, the government despite resource crunch has released Rs 17 crore to Naharlagun PWD division (Rs 5 crore), Naharlagun NH division (Rs 2 crore), Itanagar PWD capital division-A (Rs 4 crore), Itanagar PWD capital division-B (Rs 3 crore) and urban development (Rs 3 crore). However, he directed the engineers to ensure proper and judicious utilization of the funds. He also advised them to go for photography and videography before commencement and after completion of the work to meet people’s expectations.  

Pul, who along with Forest Minister Setong Sena, Education Minister Bosiram Siram and local MLA Techi Kaso along with senior engineers and officers had inspected the damaged roads in the Capital Complex on July 26 last, sought the people’s cooperation in facilitating the repair works.

The state capital had recorded a rainfall of 242.3 mm during 24 hours, the highest recorded this monsoon that had left a trail of devastation and death of four persons.

Pointing out that most of the damages were man-made because of mindless earth cutting, blockage of drainage and culverts, massive encroachment of roads and government premises and private constructions by damaging the government properties, Pul pointed out that the people have to realize that they are the beneficiaries and their wrong actions would bring them miseries and loss of life and properties which otherwise could be avoided.

Pointing out that funds would also be sanctioned on need-basis for other parts of the state which have sustained damages by monsoon rains, Pul exhorted the people to imbibe a sense of belongingness being the users of roads and any infrastructure or institution created by the government.

The people as well as the department and district administration are equally responsible for the upkeep of such assets. They should lodge complaint and act against any one damaging or resorting to encroachment of government assets in their own interest, Pul reasoned. As education and health are priority sectors of the government, the students’ stipend also weighs high on its priority agenda, he said, adding increasing the stipend amount is under the active consideration of the government which would be with some conditions.

Pul said the students of the state are among the luckiest who besides stipend get free text books and uniforms. But regrettably, they are the one who join the oft repeated bandh calls by absenting from the educational institutions. Their academic loss causes huge financial loss while its far reaching consequence is production of poor human capital which cannot ensure a bright future for the state, he rued.

The state gets hardly six months working period and the bandh serves as a drag to development, which has to be pondered seriously, he advocated.

 

Dabi makes surprise visit at Industrial estates

Naharlagun, Aug 19:  Industries and Fisheries Minister Tako Dabi, who made a surprise visit to the industrial estates located at Naharlagun Industrial area and Chandan nagar at Itanagar, today took strong exceptions to the rampant encroachments in the Industrial estates.

While interacting with the officials, Dabi expressed dismay over the encroachments and said that it has badly affected the development of industries in the state. To give new look to the industrial estates such encroachments should be checked and the old and dilapidated industrial sheds should be repaired, he added.

Pointing out that there is no dearth of educated youths in the state who are really interested in the industries sector, Dabi said that they should be promoted for proper growth and development of industries in the state.  The technologies particularly those of small scale industries should reach to the villages and the products should be popularize among the masses to make them economically viable, he added.

Exposure and study tours to foreign countries for interested entrepreneurs and skilled workers could also encourage setting up of economically viable small scale industries in the state; the Minister opined and suggested the department officials to venture into that sector.

The minister was also briefed about the workings of different industrial units, accommodation and other problems of various industrial units at Chandan nagar and Naharlagun by Jt. Director SC Dutta, ADIs, Gyamer Tabin and Geto Ori.

NCP urges leaders get back to jobs

ITANAGAR, Aug 19: Following the most unfortunate event of the sudden and untimely death of the former Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu, an all round stagnation seems to have gripped the state affairs of Arunachal Pradesh affecting all and sundry. The political impasse created by the apparent hopeless submission of the leadership of the state to a gross, unfounded uncertainty and inaction has made Arunachal Pradesh suffer on several accounts, said NCP Arunachal Pradesh unit president Ngurang Pinch, in a release.

“All development even the maintenance of the existing system of public utility services like water supply, electricity supply, repairing of roads and other such things have come to a virtual stand-still. The work-spirit which was quite evident here just a few months ago has evaporated giving way to go-as-you-like fashion. The ones who are supposed to be responsible and answerable to the state are often found engaged in unproductive bickering among themselves without any meaningful and positive purpose other than satisfying their own ego,” asserts NCP.

Expressing NCP’s view and unambiguous opinion in the context of the present political stalemate in Arunachal Pradesh to the State Home Minister Takar Marde during a recent informal discussion, Pinch tried to impress upon the seasoned leader known for his straightforwardness and ingenuity,  the urgent need for the departmental stewards of the state to get back to their respective chair immediately and re-start functioning in the interest of Arunachal Pradesh and its people.

One appreciable thing the Home Minister has done recently was to tour the Tirap- Changlang districts to gather a first hand information of the state of affairs in the two districts declared as disturbed area. It has been realized from the discussion with him that his vision and plans for bringing relief to the affected people over there deserved merit. NCP, therefore, has endorsed his view points and projected development and related program in Tirap-Changlang, the release said.

Asking the government whether it has taken a full about turn from the development programs, particularly the Green Capital schemes chalked out by late Dorjee Khandu, NCP demanded that since the rain was over now and since there should not be any excuse of weather inclemency, the government machinery should begin work in full swing to complete the envisaged development work without any delay, the release added.

 

Arunachlee youths cautioned not to follow western culture blindly

ITANAGAR, Aug 19: Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh general secretary Gichik Taaza cautioned youths of Arunachal Pradesh not to be influenced by western culture in the name of development leaving our own indigenous faith and culture.

Inaugurating the Donyi Polo Sports and Cultural Centre (DPSCC), an undertaking of Arunachal Vikash Parishad (AVP) at Naharlagun today, Taaza exhorted youths of the state to preserve their own culture and tradition for identity instead of blindly following western culture. On the occasion, he urged every youth to participate in the upcoming National Sports Meet Scheduled to be held at Pune, Maharashtra from September 19 to 31 next.

He also appealed to the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh to provide free NCERT textbooks in the schools managed and run by institution/organisation like R.K. Mission Schools, Vivekananda and Abotani Vidya Niketan etc. which promote and teach true indigenous cultures thus helping in nurturing national integrity.

Naharlagun Kargu Gamgi vice president Karbe Nyodu and few office bearers of IFCSAP were also present on the occasion.

 

Changlang DHS for timely completion of health schemes

CHANGLANG Aug 19 : The 5th governing body meeting of District Health Society, Changlang held here yesterday gave emphasis on timely implementation of all health related schemes.

Reminding the doctors, para medical workers and Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) of their vital role in delivering health services to people, deputy commissioner Opak Gao, who is also chairman DHS stressed the need for thorough and timely implementation of all health related schemes in the district.

Expressing concern over opium addiction by people, Gao suggested for involving PRI members, NGOs and students to fight against drug addiction by creating awareness among people about ill effects of drugs.

Changlang ZP chairperson and DHS governing body chairman Junpo Jugli hoped that a joint efforts of ASHAs and PRI members by organizing awareness training camp in block level could go a long way in improving the overall health scenario of the district. She said that people should be made aware about various health facilities under NRHM programmes and also educate them how to live clean and hygienic life to avoid various diseases. He also suggested for making life saving medicines available in the rural areas.

Dr. Pramathesh De, DMO cum CEO informed that, there are 304 ASHA workers engaged in Changlang district to render their services to the villagers, particularly women and children. He advocated that the doctors should go to villages and visit health sub-centers at least once in a month to study the health scenario and submit report to the higher authority on findings.

He also explained in details about the newly launched Janani Suraksha Yojana and the incentives paid to the BPL mothers under the scheme. He stressed on strict supervision and monitoring of all the ambitious health related programmes of both central and state government.

Among others, Dr. P. Dutta, DRCHO, presented performance of NRHM, Dr.(Mrs.) M. Khimhun, DPO(RNTCP), Dr. H. Tangjang, DPO(NLEP) all spoke  on their respective subject on achievements and target to achieve.

Additional Deputy Commissioners, M.C. Roy, Jairampur, T. Riba, Bordumsa administrative officers from various circles, Medical Officers, Project Director(DRDA), Manik Bui, DDSE, N. Yirang attended the meeting.

TG Rinpoche’s birth day celebrated

BOMDILA, Aug 19: The 45th birthday of the 13th Tsona Gontse Rinpoche better known as TG Rinpoche in the state was celebrated today at Gontse Gaden Rabgye-ling Monastery, Upper Gonpa Bomdila, with great fanfare and religious fervor.

It is popularly believed and recognized by the great monks of the Gelukpa sect, that the present Tsona Gontse Rinpoche is the thirteenth re-incarnation of the great Tsonawa, Sherab Sangpo. For the welfare of all sentient beings and to show the people the path and realm for greater contemplation, Lord Buddha preached at numerous places and on various occasions during his life time. His precious teachings were later on compiled into a set of three treasure boxes (tripitaka) and the Vinaypitaka is one among these. Of the various scholars on Vinaya tradition, scholar Nagarjuna was unparalled; upon whose philosophical purport the Madhyamika School of Buddhism first flourished in India and later in Tibet.

Among the scholars of the Vinaya tradition in Tibet, Je- Tsong Khapa was considered as the most renowned and unparalled one. According to the Tibetan text Lhamrim La-Gyud, he is said to be the manifestation of different body but of the same mind. His great manifestation was Jetsun Sherab Sangpo, who is known as the first Tsonawa or the Tsona Rinpoche. And the present Tsona Gontse Rinpoche (TG Rinpoche) is the thirteenth re-incarnation of the great Tsonawa, Sherab Sangpo.

Je-tsun Tenzin Jampel Wangchuk Pel Sangpo (TG Rinpoche) took birth at Sharu village under present Lhou circle in Tawang district in 1967 and was recognized by H.H Dalai Lama as the 13th re-incarnation of the Tsonawa. He studied Buddhist theology and philosophy at Drepung Loseling Monastery of Karnataka, where later on, he was awarded the degree of Geshe Larampa or Doctorate after his mastery over the subjects.

He founded the Himalayan Buddhist Cultural Association and then the Buddhist Culture Preservation Society at Bomdila in 1987. The big break for TG Rinpoche came when he was selected to represent the country in the Millennium U.N Peace Summit at New York. There was no looking back then. He made sustained endeavors for preservation and promotion of the Buddhist Culture & tradition in the Himalayan regions.

The new building of the Gontse Gaden Rabgye-ling Monastery, where traditional monastic education as well as modern education is imparted to the monks, renovation of the famous and historical Gorsam Stupa at Zemithang, establishment of Shanti Deva Vidyalaya for quality education of the downtrodden tribal students and establishment of the Central Institute of Himalayan Culture Studies (CIHCS) at Dahung in the district for providing higher education are some of his contributions. He has also taken up the establishment of two Institutions; one each in Assam and West Bengal for the development of higher education on the lines of Central Institute of Himalayan Culture Studies, Dahung, in the state. Further, a school has already been established at Singsur in Tawang for education of the nuns. He has also, to his credit, the telecasting of the Buddhist Programme on television through his newly established Sherab Sangpo Society, New Delhi, which aims at teaching and spreading world peace and humanitarian services  the world over.

In the morning, the monks offered long life and Shangsul pooja where the portrait of His Eminence TG Rinpoche was ritualistically installed with offerings of mandalas & khadas (traditional scarf). Other highlights of the day included colorful cultural programme, felicitation to school toppers and lunch for all the devotees and monks. DIPRO

 

Review meet on TSC held

Tezu, Aug 19: A review meeting on Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC) and Nirmal Gram Puruskar (NGP) highlighting various physical achievements of the sanitation campaign in the district was held in the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner here today.  Attending the meeting, Lohit deputy commissioner R.K.Sharma asked the parent department, the PHED, and other line departments like the Health, ICDS, Education etc to coordinate and conduct training for the teachers, ASHA workers and even the students and public in order to achieve success in TSC. This will help in bringing awareness and will change the general mentality of the people towards health and hygiene, he said. Lohit district has bagged 7 Nirmal Gram Puruskar awards.

He stressed on the need to update BPL list in the district saying that although the population, number of schools and Anganwadi centres have increased manifold in the last 8 years but the basic data of (2003)remained the same.

The DC also suggested active participation of Panchayat leaders and members in TSC.

Even if we do not achieve cent percent success we will have to start and try to give our 100 cent per cent to reach out to the people in every part of the district. If we work together we can achieve the target, the DC firmly said..

Informing about the physical achievements, he said that 400 additional units of school toilets and equal number of additional units of toilets for Anganwadi/balwadi centers are still required.

He also informed about the selection of 23  panchayats for Nirmal Gram Puruskar for the year 2010-2011 at ground level which need verification.

Tok said that his department is ready to tie up with other executing agencies for better results. These 23 panchayats are eligible for nomination verifications.

Resentment of Hollongi land affected people

ITANAGAR, Aug 19: Expressing displeasure over the announcement of the administration regarding the fixation of rate in a public hearing conducted by the Deputy Commissioner along with his team including Techi Hitler (LRSO), SP Papum Pare and other officers at Patilla Middle School campus on August 18, the land affected people  of Hollongi declared  non-cooperation with the authority during survey of the land on August 30 and 31.

Hollongi Land Affected People’ Welfare Committee (HLAPWC) chairman Nabam Tado in a release said the authority made it cleared during the  public hearing that rate was fixed by the High Power Committee (HPC) and as being implementing agencies of the government they are not authorized to modify the rate fixed by HPC. Moreover, Tado said, as per the authorities, the land affected people have no other option but to accept the rate.

Expressing resentment over the decision of the Govt, the land affected  people said that they were not  informed about the formation of HPC on Feb 2, therefore, there is no point to force the public to accept those rates which was prevalent in the states half century back, the committee said.

Tado further said that the state Govt never passed any bill on Land Acquisition Act and Uniformity of Land Rate Act and the way the HPC  was constituted was not acceptable by the affected people.

Union concerned over litigation against college quotas

ITANAGAR, Aug 19:  Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe Students’ Union (APSTSU) expressed serious concern over the litigation filed in the Delhi High Court by one Meenakshi Sridhar against Delhi University and others challenging the allocation of medical seats to various Special Categories States where no medical colleges are established.

In a release today, the Union appealed to the state Chief Minister to intervene, take up the issue with union Govt and make a concerted efforts along with other North East states  to challenge the petition that may have serious implications if decided in favour of the petitioner.

Denouncing the move against quotas,  the Union also appreciated MP Takam Sanjoy for raising the issue in various forums.

 

Plying of vehicle restricted from NH-52 to Postal colony on Aug 21 & 22

ITANAGAR, Aug 19: RWD Colony Welfare Society has conducted social service recently at its colony road.

On the occasion, contractor Tassar Taro contribute his JCB for clearing the road sides garbage and blocked drains of the colony road from NH-25 to Postal Colony Tinali, Itanagar.

Meanwhile, the society has decided to repair the damaged road, clear landslides debris and road side weeds on the said road on August 21 and 22 respectively on self help basis.

The society appealing the people to bear the inconvenience for better colony road informed that plying of vehicle on the said road on August 21 and 22 will be restricted due to renovation of road.

 

 

Mobile in education sector

 

As part of the Detailed Assessment (DA) process, offered by Ahmedabad-based educational research organisation, Educational Initiatives (EI), almost 60 schools across the country will now be using the mobile handsets as a tool to submit their answers for their periodic tests.

Using the mobile handsets, schools will save on this time and the analysis of the test results can be provided to students and teachers within 24 to 48 hours. Teachers will use this feedback to conduct immediate and effective remediation for the entire class thus increasing the effectiveness of assessments dramatically.

EI provides a kit containing 40 mobile phones to the school that connect to the handset of the teacher via Bluetooth. The teacher handset in-turn sends the data to the EI server using the GPRS and SMS platforms. The students are given tests papers generated by EI and they have to choose their options and submit their answers through these mobile handset. Once all the students have submitted their answers, these answers are uploaded to the EI server, where the analysis begins.

There are 13 schools in Bangalore that will be using the mobile handsets for assessments. Other than Bangalore, there are schools in Chennai, Hyderabad and Madurai among other cities in southern India that have opted for this assessment tool.

 

Anna’s integrity is unquestionable

Anna Hazare is back with a bang. The unprecedented mass support that his anti-corruption crusade has evoked across the country is phenomenal. The frail looking septuagenarian has emerged as the undisputed messiah of the common citizens, who has united them against their common enemy, corruption. Unlike the political leaders, who coaxs and lures the public to garner support, the tremendous support for the Anna brigade is spontaneous. And it’s happening because the public has reposed their faith on team Anna's resolve to curb corruption. Apparently, this government failed miserably to feel the pulse of the public. The apathy of the government to enact a strong anti-corruption legislation has compelled the citizens to jump on the bandwagon of the August revolution spearheaded by Anna. He had succeeded in igniting the emotions of the countrymen, who were harbouring intense resentment against the present system and yearning for a change. As it always happens with any crusader, he was subjected to mudslinging. Sadly, he was branded as anarchist, fascist and corrupt by some Congressmen, who forgot that their own credibility is at all time low. The countrymen know that Anna's record is unblemished and his integrity is unquestionable. Likewise his team members are eminent persons of impeccable integrity.

Arresting Anna and imprisoning him in the infamous Tihar jail reflects the tyrannical attitude of the insensitive ruling government. They failed to anticipate that, confining an eminent social activist with the hardcore criminals and scamsters would hurt the people's sentiments and make the movement even stronger. The arrogance of the Congress leaders is sickening. Instead of acknowledging the outcry in support of Anna, they are levelling bizarre charges, that this movement is orchestrated by the media, fuelled by foreign elements, right wing groups etc., which is ridiculous. It’s also disgusting to see the cynicism of some armchair intellectuals, who sermonise and criticize the anti-corruption movement which has now become a people's movement. Anna's triumphant march from Tihar jail to Ramlila Maidan today symbolises the victory of the common citizens. Its high time, the government stop living in ivory tower and acknowledge the people's fight for a change. A change towards a new India free of corruption, where the disparity between the haves and have nots doesn't exist. May the modern day Gandhian prove triumphant in his goal to obtain the weapon in the form of a strong Jan Lokpal Bill to wipe out the modern day demon in the form of corruption.

Anna’s way of protest is not acceptable

We all want that there should be anti-corruption law in the country to deal with the people at the higher places. But the way Anna Hazare expresses his grievances is unjustified. His proposed fast from August 16 is not a legitimate way of protest. They can demonstrate against corruption, against corrupt politicians but fast unto death is a crime.

Lokpal bill has already been placed before the Parliament Standing Committee. Anna has no clear concept on supremacy of Parliament as law making authority. Anna's group should have waited for the Parliamentary process to be over. Attempt to dictate Parliament to enact a particular kind of law is undemocratic.

Now standing committee has asked Hazare to testify his views and it is time for  Hazare to extend his co-operation  with the Parliamentary Standing Committee. But instead, he is taking the path of agitation with an old principle in a new guise of democratic movement having no teeth.

The Delhi police shouldn't have allowed outfits sympathetic to Hazare to go beyond a point in creating public frenzy.

Fast unto death amounts to an attempt to commit suicide. If somebody's life is in danger, it is not only the government's right but also duty to protect his life. Anna's case is nothing special.

Referendum conducted by the Hazare's group is inconsequential. There is no legal provision for referendum in our country.

Freedom of speech and expression and peaceful assembly are enshrined in the Constitution of India, but Anna's way of protest is fraught with desperation.

Be aware of fake company

Dear Editor,

I would like to draw the attention of general public, readers and all the land and building owners, particularly those who have land and buildings in capital complex, to be careful before making any kind of agreement with outsider agency or company regarding installation of Mobile tower and land lease for warehouse, cold storage etc. and advertisement like Guess & win a bike or car.

We came to know that some agencies and companies are offering attractive rent and even offer jobs for the land and building owners. But the main fact is that they are trained well to talk very sweet and decent over the phone, then they ask your name, mobile numbers and address, after that they will ask you to deposit some amount of money to their concern account number for kind of formalities like, registration fee, transportation charges and service tax. But whenever you ask them for a meeting, they will never come forward for proper meeting, because most of those types of companies are not legalized and they don’t have proper registration and valid license and may be a fully fake to earn a lakh.

Therefore, I on behalf of serious citizen of the state, earnestly request the smart and innocent people of this lovingly state, not to believe in such agencies and companies rather, lets put our hands together to create awareness among the innocent public to stay away from such fake doers.
